Roccy DeFrancesco, JD, CAPP, CMP, CRCS

Roccy DeFrancesco, JD, CAPP, CMP has been a thought-provoking disruptor in the industry for over 25 years. With books like Bad Advisors: How to Identify Them; How to Avoid Them, Retiring Without Risk, 5-Pillar Asset Protection, The Doctor’s Wealth Preservation Guide, and others he is known throughout the industry for his dedication to educating/mentoring advisors on number of topics including his favorite topic asset protection.

Asset Protection (AP) is the most important concept that very few advisors (financial planners, insurance agents, CPAs, and attorneys) are familiar with. The best estate/financial plan can be rendered meaningless if AP is not incorporated into a client’s plan.

Roccy received his B.S. degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (where he also received his commercial pilot’s license) and his J.D. from Valparaiso University School of Law.  Roccy is licensed to practice law in Michigan (inactive license in Indiana).

Lauren DeFrancesco, MS, CAPP, CRCS

Lauren DeFrancesco, MS, CAPP, CRCS earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science and cybersecurity, a master’s in engineering, science, and technology entrepreneurship, and spent over three years splitting time at KPMG and PwC. Lauren’s work is driven by a commitment to replacing rules of thumb with transparent analysis so advisors and consumers can better understand the long-term impact of their retirement planning decisions, specifically Roth IRA conversions.

After graduate school, Lauren joined KPMG, where she quickly took on complex client engagements, helped lead major initiatives, co-owned the firm’s U.S.–China cybersecurity law compliance service, and contributed to building KPMG’s cybersecurity offering for the gaming industry. Her work required translating highly technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance for executives and global organizations, a skill set that continues to shape her analytical approach today.

Lauren later joined her father, Roccy DeFrancesco, stepping away from the corporate world to focus on retirement planning, Roth conversions, and Medicare IRMAA. Working closely with financial advisors, she identified widespread inaccuracies in Roth conversion software and modeling, which led to the development of proprietary tools, the co-creation of the Certified Roth Conversion Specialist™ program, the launch of RunMyRoth.com, and the co-founding of the Roth Sherpa™ program. Her work centers on validating assumptions, stress-testing outcomes, and ensuring retirement decisions are supported by accurate math rather than oversimplified projections.
